LPT: As a lawyer, don't take legal advice from Reddit.

The vast majority of Reddit legal advice is obscenely bad. The law is incredibly nuanced and depends on your location. I've seen comments with thousands of upvotes that even a law student would know are absurdly wrong. And if you try to correct them, you get downvoted to oblivion. Really, if you have a legal issue, do not hearken back to the thing you read on Reddit a few months ago. Talk to an actual lawyer.
